APPLICATION PERIOD – OPEN

Middleton Rural Fire Dept. is now accepting applications for the 2010-2011 Reserve Recruit Academy.

Applications are being accepted until Oct. 1st, 2010 at 5pm.

Middleton will fill 10-15 reserve positions. The minimum requirements are:

* 18 yrs of age

* live in Canyon County

* pass an oral board interview and physical agility test

* be able to commit to 36 hrs of volunteer service/ month

* attend weekly training classes

The process is very competitive even for volunteer positions. If accepted Recruits will be required to successfully complete a 4 month academy with a 70% passing grade. The Academy starts in early November, 2010 with being held Tuesday and Thursday from 6-10pm. The academy will require some Saturday classes which will run from 8am – 5pm.

After Graduation, Recruits are able to sign up to work shifts alongside the career fire fighters and are paid a small stipend. Recruits are provided with most of the required safety gear. Weekly trainings are provided to develop and refine EMS and firefighting skills.
