Middleton/Star Fire - SINGLE family Residential construction

Application/Plan Review Process

NOTICE:  Effective January 1, 2021, the Middleton Rural Fire District & Star Fire Protection District will be adopting the 2018 International Fire Code.

Thank you for choosing to build within the Middleton Rural Fire District and Star Fire Protection District.   We look forward to working with you during the construction process. 


GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR SINGLE FAMILY  RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION: 


WATER SUPPLY: 

If the residential structure is more than 1000ft from a certified hydrant, a water supply is required. 


One and two-family dwellings not exceeding 3,600 square feet require a fire-flow of 1,000 gallons per minute for a duration of 1 hours to service the entire project. 


One and two family dwellings in excess of 3,600 square feet require a minimum fire flow as specified in Appendix B of the 2018 International Fire Code. 


APPARATUS ACCESS:   

Fire apparatus access roads shall have an unobstructed width of not less than 20 feet exclusive of shoulders with an unobstructed vertical clearance of not less than 13 feet 6 inches. The drivable surface shall be capable of supporting the imposed load of fire apparatus weighing at least 75,000 pounds. Access roads over 150ft from the public roadway will require a turnaround. (Approved Turnarounds) 


Effective May 1, 2020, we will now be accepting electronic plans for review.  To submit plans for review follow the steps outlined below. 


SUBMITTING APPLICATION AND PLANS FOR REVIEW: 


1) Download and Complete the Fire District Access & Water Supply Application 


2) Upload the PDF application and Plans (Certified Plans) by clicking the button below.


3) Once your review is complete an email will be sent to you from our Fire Code Official.  


4) Mail fee payment to 

    Middleton/Star Fire District's Headquarters 

    11665 W. State St., Suite B

    Star, Idaho 83669


Please allow up to 5 business days for review and comment. 


INSPECTIONS: 

Inspections are to be scheduled in a timely manner by the Builder or Project Manager.  To schedule an inspection contact (208) 585-6650 and provide the following information:


1) Fire District Permit Number


2) Inspection needed 


3) Address 


4) Contact information 


Please allow 48 hours for inspections.
